Das Yankee Stadium liegt im Stadtteil Bronx von New York. Man erreicht es etwa in einer halben Stunde von Manhattan aus. Das erste Stadium wurde 1923 gebaut und 2009 wurde das heutige Yankee Stadium eröffnet. Das alte wurde danach 2010 abgerissen. Das heutige Mit 1,5 Mrd. Dollar Baukosten ist es die teuerste Sportstätte der Welt. Das neue Stadium ist sehr an das alte Stadion angelehnt. Es hat wie das alte eine Fassade aus Granit und die Metallfriesen unter dem Dach.
Das Stadium fast bis zu 49.642 Plätze bei einem Baseball Spiel. Bis zu Fertigstellung des New York City FC (MLS) Stadions wird es auch für Fußball Spiele (Soccer) genutzt. Beim einen Fußballspiel fast das Stadion 27.528 bis maximal 33.444 Plätze.

Besuch / Besichtigung
Auch außerhalb eines Spiels lohnt sich der Besuch. Im Stadion gibt es:
- Das New York Yankees Museum (Tor 6 untere Ebene).
- Der Monumentpark (II.) im Stadion zeigt die wichtigsten Persönlichkeiten der Yankees wie dem Spieler Babe Ruth oder dem langjährigen Manager Ed Barrow. Die Ausstellung schließt immer eine halbe Stunde vor Spielbeginn.
- Insgesamt gibt es 25 feste Restaurants im Stadion, eins davon ist ein Hard Rock Cafe (Tor 6 Zugang ohne Ticket möglich) oder das NYY Steak beide auf der rechte Seite des Stadions. Berühmt ist auch die Mohegan Sun Sports Bar mit Blick aufs Feld direkt über den Monumentpark. Während eines Spiels kommen nochmals 112 Mobile Imbisse hinzu.
- Weitere unregelmäßige Veranstaltungen finden im Stadion statt.
- Und natürlich ein Fanshop um die berühmten Baseball Kappen zu bekommen.
Im Stadion gibt es keine Schließfächer um etwa Gepäck zu deponieren. Größerer Taschen sind nicht erlaubt und Metalldetektoren Standard, da alle MLB Stadien unter den Schutz der Homeland Security sehen. Selbst Selfie-Sticks sind verboten.
Überall ist ein absolutes Rauchverbot auch für E-Zigaretten. Es gibt keine Raucherplätze. Wer das Stadion verlässt kommt nicht mehr rein, da das Ticket mit dem Eintritt ungültig wird.
Im Bereich 407A und 433 ist Alkohol verboten. Woanders ist Alkohol erlaubt jedoch kein Mitgebrachter und mit rausnehmen ist auch verboten. Man nur zwei alkoholische Getränke gleichzeitig bestellen. In New York ist es verboten vor Mittag Alkohol zu verkaufen und der reguläre Verkauf beginnt 30 Min vor dem Spiel.
Tickets
Tickets für ein Yankee Spiel sind nicht gerade günstig. Es werden bis zu 2.625 USD hinter der Homeplate und bis zu 850.000 USD für eine Saisonkarte in einer Lounge bezahlt. Aber das sind natürlich extreme man bekommt auch günstigere Tickets für ein Spiel.
Ticketverkauf vor Ort ist am Tor 4 nur mit Kreditkarte möglich. Achtung seit 2016 sind selbstausgedruckte E-Tickets nicht mehr erlaubt. Entweder die klassischen Hardprints oder Mobile Tickets werden akzeptiert.

Es werden auch Touren durch das Stadium angeboten. Sie starten alle am Tor 6.
- Außerhalb von Spieltagen von 11:00 – 12:40 im 20 Min Takt.
Tickets kosten Online 20 USD und vor Ort 25 USD bzw. 23 USD für Kinder unter 14 Jahren. - An Spieltagen finden auch drei Touren statt deren Zeit von der Spielzeit abhängt. Hier Kosten die Tickets für jeden 40 USD.
- Der New York Pass enthält die Yankee Tour
In den Touren ist natürlich kein Eintritt zu den Spielen dabei.
Umgebung
- Tipp: Die Yankee Tavern auf die 72 E 161 ist ein beliebter Treffpunkt und eine Pilgerstätte geworden. Hier waren früher Babe Ruth und Yogi Berra Stammgäste. Hier kann man gute Essen, Spiele verfolgen und vor allem ist das Bier hier billiger als in manchen Sport Bars in Manhattan.
- An der River Ave. gegenüber dem Heritage Field (Macombs Dam Park) sind weitere Sportsbars.
- Für alle Düsseldorfer. Zwei Blocks weiter im Süden des Joyce Kilmer Park steht der Heinrich Heine Brunnen.

The Yankees are a global brand who have inspired people around the world to love and play baseball. That goes without saying. Still, the team is the fourth most profitable sports franchise in the world, according to recent buzz in business circles. Those who make the trek to the Bronx, however, are less interested in tidbits of financial data than hanging out together at Yankee Tavern on 72 E 161st. It’s been the go-to spot before and after games since 1923. Babe Ruth and Yogi Berra were regular patrons, so it’s a sort of museum that buzzes with energy. Best yet, there’s a good selection of beer that’s cheaper than you'll find in Manhattan sports bars. Also consider The Hard Rock Cafe, which is located inside the stadium. It’s at Gate 6, but you don't have to possess a ticket to a game to enter and enjoy a meal and drinks there.
A fast drive up the Grand Concourse from the stadium is Bedford Park Boulevard. Cut right, and you'll find The New York Botanical Gardens. It’s only about a fifteen minute ride away, offering 250 acres of greenery and flora that includes picturesque nature trails. Spending time there with friends or family is a great way to get geared up for a lively game at the stadium later.
Much of the area the stadium is in consists of working class residential streets lined with low-rise buildings and private homes. The Grand Concourse, a major Bronx boulevard about five miles long with a part that runs past the stadium, can't be overlooked, however. While it has struggled to keep its original elegant veneer and it would be a stretch to compare it to the Champs-Élysées in Paris, which is known for its unique art deco buildings designed by award winning French architects. Some of these properties are on the National Register of Historic Places. This same area of the Grand Concourse also includes Beaux-Arts style landmarks.
Just a casual walk or drive around the area will open up a local world that contributes to the air of old New York nostalgia that surrounds the stadium though. It’s noteworthy to mention that the Opera House Hotel on 436 E 149th St. gets rave reviews and is only a mile away. Whether you decide to visit Yankee Stadium during the season for a game or on a private tour in the offseason, you will not be disappointed with one of baseballs oldest and most historic teams.
